in the company of trees
It all started with the palm trees. I live in Southern California where palm trees are as ubiquitous as lattes. Over the years, I've photographed one particularly lovely line of Mexican Fan Palms, but it wasn't until I fell in love with the Holga camera that I started seeing and photographing trees with a sharper eye (and softer focus.)

I've always seen more clearly through a camera's lens (even one that's plastic, like that of the the Holga); and I value more highly now the sculptural, textural and painterly aspects of trees. Trees for me have moved forward and apart from the greater landscape while, at the same time, becoming more treasured parts of the whole.
